Where and How Voters Write You In

Why My Name Is Not on the General Election Ballot

I chose to run as a write-in candidate for Maryland’s 6th Congressional District.

Because I filed early enough, my name will appear on the Sample Ballot that voters receive before Election Day.

However, during the actual General Election, my name will not be printed on the ballot — you will need to write it in.

How to Vote for Chris Hyser as a Write-In Candidate

There are two very important steps for your vote to count:

  1. Fill in the oval next to the blank “Write-In” line for my race.

  2. Neatly write my name exactly as: Chris Hyser

The machine only recognizes your write-in vote if the oval is filled in. Filling in the oval causes the ballot to be flagged for hand counting, which is crucial to ensuring every vote for me is counted.

Step-by-Step Voting Instructions (Paper Ballot)

  1. Locate the race for Representative in Congress – District 6 on your ballot.

  2. Find the blank write-in line under the listed candidates.

  3. Neatly print: Chris Hyser in the blank space.

  4. Fill in the oval next to the write-in space. (Critical — the scanner only registers your write-in if the oval is marked.)

Electronic Ballot Marking Device Instructions
